Have you ever looked through the window from a running train? If you have, what did you see? – তুমি কি কখনো চলন্ত ট্রেনের জানালা দিয়ে তাকিয়েছ? যদি তাকিয়ে থাক; তবে কী দেখেছিলে?
Ans. Yes, I have looked through the window from a running train. In the last winter vacation, I went to Khulna by train. I sat by the window. I saw many interesting things. I saw the green fields with standing crops, tall trees and small streams. I also saw the farmers working in the field where the cattle were grazing. I saw wonderfül scenery while passing the Bangabandhu Bridge. It kept a lasting impression in my memory.

Zishan, Julie and their parents Mr and Mrs Arif Khan got into a 1″ class compartment at Kamalapur Railway Station. It was the Dewanganj-bound Tista Express. Zishan saw that the departure time on the big time table station was 7:30. am, but the train left at 8.0′ clock. However the train was running quite fast. The children sat by the window beside their parents. The compartment was half empty.

Yesterday Julie had downloaded a beautiful poem on a train journey by Robert Louis Stevenson and printed out a copy of the poem. She took a printout of the poem. Now while looking out of the windows, she found similarities between the poem and real scenery. She took out the poem and began to read.

Ans. The train was going to Dewanganj. (ট্রেনটি দেওয়ানগঞ্জে যাচ্ছিল।)
4. Did the train leave Kamalapur Station late or on time? (ডিড দ্যা ট্রেন লীভ কমলাপুর স্টেশন লেইট অর অন টাইম?)-ট্রেনটি কমলাপুর স্টেশন থেকে দেরিতে নাকি সময়মতো ছেড়েছিল?

Ans. Julie got the poem from internet. (জুলি কবিতাটি ইন্টারনেট থেকে পেয়েছে।)
6. What was Julie doing from her seat? (হোয়ট ওয়াজ জুলি ডুয়িং ফ্রম হার সীট?)- জুলি তার আসনে বসে কী করছিল?
Ans. Julie was looking out and saw the passing things from her seat. (জুলি তার আসনে বসে বাইরে তাকাচ্ছিল এবং পার হয়ে যাওয়া জিনিসগুলো দেখছিল।)

B অনুচ্ছেদে ব্যবহৃত passing, running এবং looking এ word গুলো একই সাথে verb ও adjective এর কাজ করেছে। এরা verbal adjective বা participle; যেহেতু এরা চলমান অবস্থা বুঝায় সুতরাং এরা Present participle.
Example:
* Julie looked at the passing things. (জুলি চলমান জিনিসগুলোর দিকে তাকিয়েছিল।) এক্ষেত্রে passing দ্বারা things এর অবস্থান। (অর্থাৎ Adjective) প্রকাশ পাচ্ছে।
* She was looking out of the window. (সে জানালার বাইরে তাকাচ্ছিল) এক্ষেত্রে looking দ্বারা কর্তার অবস্থা (অর্থাৎ Adjective) প্রকাশ পাচ্ছে।
* The train was running fast. (রেলগাড়িটি দ্রুত গতিতে ছুটছিল।) এক্ষেত্রে running দ্বারা train এর অবস্থা (অর্থাৎ adjective) প্রকাশ করছে। সুতরাং’ এক্ষেত্রে running present participle.
* Present participle = (verb এ base form + ing) অর্থাৎ verb এর base form এর সাথে ing যোগ করে present participle গঠন করা হয়। এজন্য এদেরকে verb এর ing form বলে।
