A. Look at the picture. Answer these questions – ছবিটি লক্ষ্য করো। এসব প্রশ্নের উত্তর দাও।
1. Who do you think these people are? – এসব লোক কারা বলে তুমি মনে করো?
Ans. I think these people are family members of Zishan. (আমার মনে হয় এরা জিসানের পরিবারের সদস্য।)
2. Where do you think they are? – তারা কী করতে পারেন?
Ans. I think they can be in the yard of their house. (আমি মনে করি তাঁরা তাঁদের বাড়ির উঠানে থাকতে পারেন।)
3. Can you guess what they are doing? – তুমি কি অনুমান করতে পার তারা কী করছেন?
Ans. Perhaps someone is telling story and the rest of the people are listening. (সম্ভবত কেউ একজন গল্প বলছেন আর বাকি সবাই শুনছেন।)

The Selfish Giant – স্বার্থপর দৈত্য
Every afternoon, as they were coming from school, the children used to go and play in the Giant’s garden.
যেহেতু প্রত্যেক বিকেলে তারা বিদ্যালয়। থেকে আসছিল, শিশুরা যেত এবং দৈত্যের। বাগানে খেলা করত।
It was a large lovely garden, with soft green grass. Here and there over the grass stood beautiful flowers. All around the garden were trees filled with sweet fruit.
The birds sat on the trees and sang so sweetly that the children used to stop their games in order to listen to them. ‘How happy we are here!’ they cried to each other.
এটা ছিল নরম সবুজ ঘাস বিশিষ্ট একটি সুন্দর বৃহৎ বাগান। ঘাসের উপরে এখানে সেখানে চমৎকার ফুলেরা বিরাজ করছিল। বাগানের চারপাশ সুমিষ্ট ফল বিশিষ্ট গাছে পরিপূর্ণ ছিল। পাখিরা গাছে বসেছিল। এবং এতই মিষ্টি গান গেয়েছিল যে শিশুরা তাদের গান শুনতে তাদের খেলা থামিয়ে দিত। তারা পরিস্পরে উল্লাসে বলত, “কতই না আনন্দ এখানে!”
One day the Giant came back. He had been to visit his friend in a distant land, and had stayed with him for seven years. When he arrived, he saw the children playing in his garden.
এক দিন দেত্যটি ফিরে আসল। তাকে তার এক বন্ধুর কাছে দূরে সাক্ষাতে যেতে হয়েছিল এবং তাকে সাত বছর ধরে থাকতে হয়েছিল। যখন তিনি ফিরে আসলেন, তিনি শিশুদেরকে তার বাগানে খেলতে দেখলেন।
‘What are you doing here?’ cried the Giant in a very gruff voice. The children ran away in fear.
‘তোমরা এখানে কী করছ?’ দৈত্যটি বিষাদময় কণ্ঠে চিৎকার করে বলল। শিশুরা ভয়ে দৌড়ে পালালো।
‘My own garden is my own garden,’ said the Giant. “I will allow nobody to play in it but myself.” So, he built a high wall all round the garden, and put up a notice:
দৈত্যটি বলল, “আমার বাগান আমারই।” আমি ছাড়া এখানে কাউকে খেলতে অনুমতি দিব না। সুতরাং তিনি বাগানের চারপাশে একটি উঁচু দেয়াল নির্মাণ করলেন এবং একটি নোটিশ রেখে দিলেন।

Ans. Yes, I have seen a park. I have seen the Ramna Park of Dhaka. This is one of the biggest parks in Bangladesh. There are many big trees here. Flowers of different colours and smells are always seen in the park. At a corner of the park there is a play ground for children. A lake has increased the beauty of the park. There are many shades for people to take rest. This is really a beautiful park.
হ্যাঁ, আমি একটি পার্ক দেখেছি। আমি ঢাকার রমনা পার্ক দেখেছি। এটা বাংলাদেশের অন্যতম বৃহৎ একটি পার্ক। এখানে অনেক বড় বড় গাছ রয়েছে। পার্কটিতে বিভিন্ন বর্ণ ও গন্ধের ফুল চোখে পড়ে। পার্কের এক কোনায় শিশুদের জন্য খেলার মাঠ রয়েছে। একটি লেক পার্কটির সৌন্দর্য বৃদ্ধি করেছে। এখানে দর্শনার্থীদের বিশ্রাম নেয়ার জন্য অনেকগুলো ছাউনি রয়েছে। এটি সত্যিই একটি সুন্দর পার্ক।
