Asif: Excuse me! Could you tell me the way to the railway station, please? মাফ করবেন। অনুগ্রহপূর্বক রেলওয়ে স্টেশনে যাওয়ার পথটি বলতে পারবেন কি?
Passer-by: Oh, it’s not very far. Go along this street and you’ll come to a big crossroads. Turn left. Go along about two hundred metres, and you will see a tall building. Go past and the station is on the right. হ্যাঁ, এটি খুব বেশি দূরে নয়। এ রাস্তা বরাবর যান। এখন একটি বড় ক্রসরোড দেখতে পাবেন। বামে মোড় নিন। বরাবর দু’শ মিটার গিয়ে একটি বড় ভবন দেখতে পাবেন। ভবনটি অতিক্রম করে যান আর ডান পাশে স্টেশনটি রয়েছে।
Asif: Go along—-come to crossroads—turn left—- go about two hundred metres —–tall building—- station on the right. Thank you very much. বরাবর যাওয়া – ক্রস রোডে আসা —বাম মোড় নেওয়া — প্রায় দু’শ মিটার পর্যন্ত যাওয়া —বড় ভবন —ডানে স্টেশন। আপনাকে অসংখ্য ধন্যবাদ।
Passer-by: It’s OK. ঠিক আছে।
Note: ‘Excuse me’ is a polite way of drawing somebody’s attention.
‘It’s OK’: You can also say, ‘You’re welcome’.
‘মাফ করবেন’: কারো দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণে শিষ্টাচারসম্পন্ন উপায়।
‘ঠিক আছে’: তুমি এও বলতে পার, ‘স্বাগতম’।

B. Look at the map. Suppose you are now on Park Road and you want to go to Mosque Road or Zilla School. Ask your partner how you can go there. Start like this: মানচিত্রটি লক্ষ করো। মনে করো, তুমি এখন পার্ক রোডে আছ এবং মসজিদ রোড কিংবা জিলা স্কুল যেতে চাও। তুমি কীভাবে সেখানে যেতে পার তা তোমার সহপাঠীকে জিজ্ঞেস করো। এভাবে শুরু করো:
S1: Excuse me. How can I go to Mosque Road? মাফ করবেন। আমি কীভাবে মসজিদ রোডে যেতে পারি?
S2: Oh, it’s quite far- হ্যাঁ, এটি বেশ দূরে।

S1: Excuse me. How can I go to Mosque Road? (মাফ করবেন। আমি কীভাবে মসজিদ রোড যেতে পারি?)
S2: Oh, it’s quite far from Park Road. (হ্যাঁ, এটি পার্ক রোড থেকে বেশ দূরে।)
S1: Nevertheless, you can tell me short cut way to Mosque road.(তথাপি সহজ পথটি বলতে পার।)
S2: Just go straight and come to Colony Road. From Colony Road go to the junction of roads. Then turn left and go to Lake Road. Just after crossing Lake Road you will find Mosque Road. (একেবারে সোজা যাও এবং কলোনি রোডে আস। কলোনি রোড থেকে চৌরাস্তায় যাও। এরপর বামে মোড় নিয়ে লেইক রোডে যাও। লেইক রোড অতিক্রম করার পরই মসজিদ রোড দেখতে পাবে।)

S2: Oh, it’s quite far from Wari. (হ্যাঁ, এটি ওয়ারি থেকে বেশ দূরে।)
S1: Nevertheless, you can tell me the shortcut way to Faridabad. (তথাপি, তুমি আমাকে ফরিদাবাদ যাওয়ার সহজ পথটি বলতে পার।)
S2: Go straight to Narinda. After crossing Narinda, you will find Dholai khal road. Turn left and go to the junction of Murgitola, Go straight to Katherpool. Just going to Loharpool turn left and then right. Thus you will find Faridabad.
নারিন্দা বরাবর যাও। নারিন্দা অতিক্রম করার পর ধোলাই খাল রোড দেখতে পাবে। বামে মোড় নাও এবং মুরগিটোলা মোড় যাও। বরাবর কাঠেরপুল যাও। লোহারপুল গিয়েই বামে মোড় নাও, এরপর ডানে মোড় নাও। এভাবে ফরিদাবাদ এলাকা খুঁজে পাবে।)
