A. Read the following dialogue. ~ নিচের সংলাপটি পড়ো।
Bahar: We have a week’s vacation next week. What should we do?
আগামী সপ্তাহে আমাদের এক সপ্তাহের ছুটি আছে। আমাদের কী করা উচিত?
Azim: Let’s go somewhere we haven’t been before.
চল আমরা এমন কোথাও যাই যেখানে আগে কখনও যাই নি।
Joseph: Right! I saw an ad for an interesting place. Hmm… well, here it is!
ঠিক বলেছো। আমি একটি আকর্ষণীয় স্থানের বিজ্ঞাপন দেখেছি। হুমম… বেশ, এই যে এটি!
Bahar: Let me see! Ah! A two day trip to Kuakata! That sounds interesting! Look at the picture of the sea-beach and the sun rise! It looks fantastic!
আমাকে দেখতে দাও! আহ্! কুয়াকাটায় দুদিনের আনন্দভ্রমণ! ওটি মজার মনে হচ্ছে! সমুদ্র সৈকত ও সূর্যোদয়ের ছবিটি দেখো। এটি দেখতে দারুণ!
Azim: Well, I’ve always wanted to climb a mountain. Why don’t we go to the Chimbuk Mountains in Bandarban?
বেশ, আমি সর্বদাই পর্বতে আরোহণ করতে চেয়েছি। আমরা কেন বান্দরবানের চিম্বুক পর্বতমালায় যাই না?
Shujan: I’ve an idea! How about going to the Sundarbans? We can see some wild ‘animals and can also take pictures of the forests and the sea.
আমার একটি মতামত আছে। সুন্দরবনে গেলে কেমন হয়? আমরা কিছু বন্যপ্রাণী দেখতে পাবো এবং বন ও সাগরের ছবিও তুলতে পারবো।
Bahar: Well … well … calm down everybody! We can’t go to all the places and do all the things at a time, right?
বেশ… বেশ.. সবাই শান্ত হও! আমরা সবগুলো স্থানে একসাথে যেতে পারবো না এবং সবকাজ একই সময়ে করতে পারবো না, ঠিক আছে?
Joseph: Yeah. Let’s think about all the options and then decide. হ্যাঁ। চল সবগুলো পছন্দ নিয়ে ভাবি এবং তারপর সিদ্ধান্ত নিই।
A1. Make a list of the places the friends wanted to go to. Why did they want to go to these places? ~ বন্ধুরা যে সব স্থানে যেতে চেয়েছিল তার একটি তালিকা তৈরি করো। কেন তারা এসব স্থানে যেতে চেয়েছিল?

2. Chimbuk Mountains (চিম্বুক, পর্বতমালা)
3. The Sunderbans. (সুন্দরবন)
The friends wanted to go to these places because of their personal interest. One of the friends chose Kuakata, because he thought that they could enjoy the sea-beach and sunrise. The second one chose Chimbuk Mountains, because he had wanted to climb a mountain. The third one chose the Sunderbans, because he wanted to see some wild animals and take pictures of the forests and the sea.

A2. Think of a place you would like to go to. Now write down a few sentences about where you want to go, why you want to go there, who you want to go with. ~ একটি স্থানের কথা চিন্তা করো যেখানে তুমি যেতে চাও। তুমি যেখানে যেতে চাও, তুমি কেন সেখানে যেতে চাও, কার/কাদের সাথে তুমি যেতে চাও সে সম্পর্কে এখন কয়েকটি বাক্য লেখো।

Cox’s Bazar is the place where I would like to go. I want to go there because it is the longest sea-beach in the world. I want to see the marvellous beauty of the ocean. I want to enjoy the sunrise and sunset from there. It would be amazing to touch the waves of the ocean. I want to go there with my family members.
যেখানে আমি যেতে চাই সে জায়গাটা হচ্ছে কক্সবাজার। আমি সেখানে যেতে চাই কারণ এটি পৃথিবীর দীর্ঘতম সমুদ্র সৈকত। আমি সমুদ্রের অভূতপূর্ব সৌন্দর্য দেখতে চাই। আমি সেখান থেকে সূর্যোদয় ও সূর্যাস্ত উপভোগ করতে চাই। সমুদ্রের ঢেউ স্পর্শ করতে পারা দারুণ ব্যাপার হবে। আমি আমার পরিবারের সদস্যদের সাথে সেখানে যেতে চাই।

a. You and your friends want to do a class project. Discuss and decide what you want to do. – তুমি এবং তোমার বন্ধুরা একটি শ্রেণি প্রকল্প করতে চাও। আলোচনা করো এবং কী করতে চাও সিদ্ধান্ত নাও।
clues: poster drawing – পোস্টার আঁকা; wall magazine দেয়াল পত্রিকা; drama, etc. নাটক, ইত্যাদি।

Mamun, Tanvir, Sabuj and Talha are my classmates. We are planning to do a class project.

Myself: Tomorrow is Friday, our weekly holiday. What should we do?
আমি: আগামীকাল শুক্রবার, আমাদের সাপ্তাহিক ছুটি। আমাদের কী করা উচিত?
Mamun: Let’s do something great.
মামুন: চল দারুণ কিছু করি।
Sabuj: You’re right. Do you have any idea?
সবুজ: তুমি ঠিক বলেছো। এ ব্যাপারে তোমার কি কোনো পরিকল্পনা আছে?
Manun: I have one. Let’s draw posters. It can be against smoking or on anything.
মামুন: আমার একটি পরিকল্পনা আছে। চল আমরা পোস্টার আঁকি। এটি ধূমপানের বিরুদ্ধে বা যে কোনো কিছু নিয়ে হতে পারে।
Tanvir: Great idea! But I was thinking of publishing a wall magazine. It’ll be more creative.
তানভীর: চমৎকার পরিকল্পনা। কিন্তু আমি একটি দেয়াল পত্রিকা প্রকাশের কথা ভাবছিলাম। এটি আরো সৃজনশীল হবে।
Talha: What about staging a drama? It is more interesting.
তালহা: একটি নাটক মঞ্চস্থ করলে কেমন হয়? এটি আরও মজার হবে।
Tanvir: Drama? Within a single day? It is impossible.
তানভীর: নাটক? মাত্র এক দিনে? এটি অসম্ভব।
Sabuj: You’re right. It’ll also be difficult to publish a wall magazine in one day.
সবুজ: তুমি ঠিক বলেছো। একদিনে একটি দেয়াল পত্রিকা প্রকাশ করাও দুরূহ হবে।
Myself: Let’s draw some posters on various topics. We can raise awareness through them.
আমি: চল আমরা বিভিন্ন বিষয়ের উপর কিছু পোস্টার আঁকি। এগুলোর মাধ্যমে আমরা সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি করতে পারি।

b. You and your friends want to buy a gift for your teacher on his/her birthday. Discuss and decide what gift to get. – তুমি ও তোমার বন্ধুরা তোমার শিক্ষকের জন্যে তাঁর জন্মদিন উপলক্ষে একটি উপহার কিনতে চাও। আলোচনা করো ও সিদ্ধান্ত নাও কী উপহার নেওয়া যায়।

আলি, আবীর, নির্ঝর এবং জিসান আমার বন্ধু। আমরা আমাদের শিক্ষকের জন্মদিনে তার জন্য একটি উপহার কিনে দিতে চাই।
Myself: The coming Sunday is the birthday of our teacher Mr. Alam. He is a very kind teacher. He loves us very much. What should we do?
আমি: আগামী রবিবার আমাদের শিক্ষক আলম সাহেবের জন্মদিন। তিনি খুব দয়ালু শিক্ষক। তিনি আমাদেরকে খুব ভালোবাসেন। আমাদের কী করা উচিত?
Zishan: Let’s buy a gift for him on his birthday.
জিসান: চল তাঁর জন্মদিনে তাঁর জন্যে একটি উপহার কিনি।
Ali: Great idea! But what should we buy for him?
আলি: দারুণ পরিকল্পনা! কিন্তু তাঁর জন্যে আমাদের কী কেনা উচিত?
Zishan: I think we should buy a book for him.
জিসান: আমার মনে হয় তাঁর জন্যে আমাদের একটি বই কেনা উচিত।
Nirjhor: Which type of book?
নির্ঝর: কী ধরনের বই?
Abir: Suppose, Geetanjoli.
আবির: মনে করো, গীতাঞ্জলি।
Ali: Buying a book for him is ‘not a good idea.
আলি: তাঁর জন্যে বই কেনা ভালো পরিকল্পনা নয়।
Myself: I also think so.
আমি: আমিও তাই মনে করি।
Zishan: Have you any new idea?
জিসান: তোমাদের কোনো নতুন পরিকল্পনা আছে?
Ali: Yes, I’ve. Why don’t we buy a bunch of fresh flowers for him?
আলি: হ্যাঁ, আমার আছে। আমরা তাঁর জন্যে এক তোড়া তাজা ফুল কিনছি না কেন?
Everybody: You’re right. We can buy flowers for him. Flower is the best gift.
প্রত্যেকে: তুমি ঠিক বলেছো। আমরা তাঁর জন্যে ফুল কিনতে পারি। ফুল হচ্ছে সেরা উপহার।
Myself: Thanks, everybody. Let’s buy flowers for him.
আমি: সবাইকে ধন্যবাদ। চল তাঁর জন্য আমরা ফুল কিনি।
