A. Nira and Mong Pru are excited! They are waiting eagerly for their teacher to come and start the lesson. They are going to read about the wonders of the modern world. Read the text below. – নীরা এবং মং প্রু অধীর হয়ে আছে। তারা শিক্ষকের আগমন ও পাঠ শুরুর জন্যে আগ্রহ সহকারে অপেক্ষা করছে। তারা আধুনিক বিশ্বের বিস্ময়সমূহ সম্পর্কে পড়তে যাচ্ছে। নিচের পাঠটি পড়ো।
People often speak about the wonders of the past. Mostly they were huge buildings and constructions. They are awesome and fabulous, no doubt. But the wonders of the present world are also unbelievable. Read about the following recent inventions.
মানুষ প্রায়ই অতীতকালের বিস্ময় সম্পর্কে কথা বলে। সেগুলোর অধিকাংশই ছিল বিশাল ইমারত এবং নির্মাণ সম্পর্কিত। সেগুলো চমৎকার এবং অবিশ্বাস্য, এতে কোনো সন্দেহ নেই। কিন্তু বর্তমানকালের বিস্ময়গুলোও অবিশ্বাস্য। নিচের সাম্প্রতিক আবিষ্কারগুলো সম্পর্কে পড়ো।
Computers (কম্পিউটারসমূহ)
The invention of the computer is very important in human life. It has changed the life style of people in the world. We use it in every sphere of our life. We can use it for studies, communication, watching movies, listening to music, playing games, etc. In a moment we can get information from any part of the world on the computer. People do not feel lonely as they can send emails to their friends and relatives. Some of their friends and relatives also live in far off countries. Even they can talk to them face to face on different social media. With computer a person can always keep himself updated. Everybody should learn to use the computer. In fact, the computer has made people’s work easier and faster. At present, it has become a part of our daily life.
অনুবাদ: মানব জীবনে কম্পিউটারের আবিষ্কার অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। এটি বিশ্বের মানুষের জীবনধারা পরিবর্তন করেছে। আমাদের জীবনের প্রত্যেকটি ক্ষেত্রে আমরা এটিকে ব্যবহার করে থাকি। লেখাপড়া, যোগাযোগ স্থাপন, সিনেমা দেখা, গান শোনা, গেম খেলা প্রভৃতি কাজে আমরা এটি ব্যবহার করতে পারি। মুহূর্তের মধ্যে আমরা পৃথিবীর যেকোনো প্রান্ত থেকে কম্পিউটারের মাধ্যমে তথ্য পেতে পারি। যেহেতু লোকজন তাদের বন্ধুবান্ধব ও আত্মীয়স্বজনদের সাথে ই-মেইলের মাধ্যমে যোগাযোগ স্থাপন করতে পারেন তাই তারা একাকীত্ব বোধ করেন না। তাদের কিছুসংখ্যক বন্ধুবান্ধব ও আত্মীয়স্বজন দেশের বাইরেও বসবাস করেন। তা সত্ত্বেও তারা তাদের সাথে (বন্ধু ও আত্মীয়) বিভিন্ন সামাজিক মাধ্যমে মুখোমুখি হয়ে কথা বলতে পারেন। কম্পিউটারের বদৌলতে একজন মানুষ সবসময় নিজেকে যুগোপযোগী করে রাখতে পারেন। সকলেরই তাই কম্পিউটার পরিচালনা করার দক্ষতা অর্জন করা উচিত। বস্তুত, কম্পিউটার মানুষের কাজকে সহজসাধ্য ও গতিশীল করেছে। বর্তমানে এটি আমাদের দৈনন্দিন জীবনের একটি অংশ হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে।
Space travel (মহাকাশ ভ্রমণ)
Just a hundred years ago, people dreamed of having wings like birds to fly high in the sky. That dream came true when the Wright brothers built the first aeroplane that could fly. Now, people can travel much faster and higher than birds. Not only do we travel from one country to another, but we have also invented spacecraft that can travel from one planet to another planet. Humans have set foot on the moon, and are even exploring Mars! Advancements in space travel technology have enabled scientists and astronauts to explore distant planets and moons. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll be able to spend a vacation on a planet in a different galaxy, several thousand light-years away!
অনুবাদ: মাত্র একশো বছর আগেও মানুষ পাখির মতো ডানা মেলে সুউচ্চ আকাশে ওড়ার স্বপ্ন দেখত। সেই স্বপ্ন বাস্তবে পরিণত হয়েছিল যখন রাইট ভ্রাতৃদ্বয় প্রথম উড়োজাহাজ তৈরি করেছিলেন যা আকাশে উড়তে পারতো। এখন মানুষ পাখির চেয়ে দ্রুত এবং উঁচুতে ভ্রমণ করতে পারে। শুধু যে আমরা এক দেশ থেকে অন্য দেশ ভ্রমণ করি তা নয়, আমরা মহাকাশযানও উদ্ভাবন করেছি যা এক গ্রহ হতে অন্য গ্রহে ভ্রমণ করতে পারে। মানুষ চাঁদের মাটিতে পা রেখেছে এবং এমনকি মঙ্গলগ্রহও অনুসন্ধান করছে। মহাকাশ ভ্রমণ প্রযুক্তির অগ্রগতি বিজ্ঞানী এবং নভোচারীদের দূরবর্তী গ্রহ এবং উপগ্রহ অনুসন্ধানে সক্ষম করেছে। কে জানে আমরা হয়তো একদিন হাজার হাজার আলোকবর্ষ দূরের ভিন্ন ছায়াপথের কোনো গ্রহে ছুটি কাটাতে সক্ষম হবো।
Mobile phones (মুঠোফোনসমূহ)
Mobile phone is another useful invention of the world. Like computers mobile phones help us greatly in our daily life. Through mobiles we can connect the whole world. Only a few years ago we had difficulty to contact our near and dear ones. That was very costly too. Mobile phones are very handy and we can use them for communication with people at a very low cost. Mobile phones have different functions such as making calls, listening to music, taking photographs, storing information, etc. Even it can be used for distance learning.

The Most Surprising Innovation around Me
In our modern life we have a number of innovations around us. They always surprise me. But among them, the innovation of mobile phones surprises me the most. It is an ultra modern invention of modern science. Mobile phones have been a part of our lives. There are some special aspects of mobile phones that attract me a lot. For example- they are not used just for calling or texting, rather they are used as powerful computers in our pocket. With smartphones, I can access the internet, work on documents, watch movies, and even follow health tips. Also, I can stay connected with friends and family anywhere, anytime. The speed and convenience of mobile phones have made our life easier and more efficient. It’s amazing how much technology has evolved in such a short time. I am surprised by how quickly phones have gone from simple tools to essential devices for almost everything. Really, the innovation feels endless and always improving!
