Deforestration and its Effect
Deforestation refers to the intentional destruction or removal of trees and other vegetations for agricultural, commercial, housing or other puposes. We are facing the dangers of deforestation all over the world. The sea level is rising alarmingly. Bio-diversity is being hampered horribly. But some greedy persons are still cutting down trees indiscriminately. Recently a very big area has been cleared by cutting down thousands of trees in our locality. Flood and river erosion have become a common companion of the people of Bangladesh. Due to some disasters like SIDR, a huge quantity of cultivable land lost fertility as the salty water flooded that land. In the rainy season it rains continuously. Besides, due to heat wave and cold wave many people die every year. Moreover the seasons are inter-shifting in Bangladesh. This year the summer was very long and the winter has come late. All these things contribute much to the change of our ecosystem. Now we have to plant more trees though this is not enough. We have to fight off the illegal loggers. A revolution of reforestation should be launched. We should start the practice of using coal for making fire in stead of wood. We have to support the laws.or programmes initiated to save the forest. And each and everybody should join-environmental awareness campaign.
