The Falcon Hypersonic Technology Vehicle-2 (Falcon HTV-2) is the fastest plane ever built by human beings. It would fly from London to Sydney in less than an hour. Supersonic Concorde, by the way, could not fly at such a great speed. At the same time it would withstand temperatures of almost 2,000 degree C. This temperature is hotter than the melting point of steel.

The US Defense Agency will launch the Falcon HTV-2. First, they will set it on the back of a rocket. Then they will launch both into the space from an Air Force Base. The plan goes like this: engineers will launch the Falcon HTV-2 into the space on the back of a rocket; then they will detach the plane from the rocket; the plane Falcon will fly towards the Earth; engineers will guide and monitor it in its flight. The plane would fly at hypersonic speed of 13,000 mp/h. This speed is about 20 times the speed of sound.

The Falcon was born in 2003. It was born as part of a US military project. The project researched and built a special type of plane. The researchers wanted that the plane could reach any part of the world in less than an hour. They also wanted to use it for any purposes, military or civil. The plane was already tested in computer models.

Future Aircraft
Thursday’s flight will also test another feature of the Falcon aircraft. The plane is not made of steel, but of carbon composite materials. The plane will fly at hypersonic speed. This speed will be almost 13,000 miles per hour.When a plane flies at such a huge speed, the body of the plane becomes extremely hot. The body temperature of the plane could reach more than 2,000 degree Celsius. Steel will melt at this temperature. But carbon composite materials can withstand this level of temperature. They do not melt.

I have always dreamt of flying. My dream came true when I got a golden opportunity of flying west ward in a supersonic plane like Concorde. It is the world’s fastest supersonic passenger aircraft. Its normal speed is 2,170km/h. However, I reached NewYork Airport to go to London by Concorde. I was checked in well. I had to wait for some time. Soon we heard, “BA002 Supersonic flight to London is ready to board, please proceed to gate 6 for immediate boarding”. So we proceeded to gate 6 to board. After I sat down I felt actually merry. The new designs of the leather chairs are marvelous, comfortable and elegant. I sat at 12D which is the second row of the rear cabin. We were 54 passengers in total out of 100 available seats. As the aircraft taxied out to the runway, the captain welcomed everyone aboard. The in-flight briefing was far more detailed than the usual captain’s announcement on a subsonic plane. We taxied for 17 minutes for take off. The take off roll was regular, the audible founds from the engines were a little bit louder but noticably faster than a subsonic plane. We took about 3/4 14000ft runway to become airborne. It took no more than a few minutes for us to pass long Island. We went into the clouds for a while and lost all the grounds sights within 5 minutes after take off. Soon the captain announced that we were going to land at the London Airport. Then we were ready to get down. The journey I took by the Supersonic plane Concorde was really amazing and amusing. I will never forget my experience of flying in supersonic plane like Concorde.
আমি সবসময় উড্ডয়নের স্বপ্ন দেখেছি। আমার স্বপ্ন সত্য হলো যখন কনকর্ডের মত সুপারসনিক বিমানযোগে পশ্চিম দিকে ভ্রমণের সুবর্ণ সুযোগ পেলাম। এটি বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে দ্রুতগামী সুপারসনিক যাত্রীবাহী বিমান। এর স্বাভাবিক গতি ঘণ্টায় ২১৭০ কি.মি.। যহোক, কনকর্ড যোগে লন্ডন যেতে নিউইয়র্ক পৌঁছলাম। আমাকে ভালোভাবে পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষা করা হলো। আমাকে কিছুক্ষণ অপেক্ষা করতে হলো। শীঘ্রই শুনলাম, “লন্ডনে যাওয়ার বিএ০০২ সুপারসনিক বিমান যাত্রী নিতে প্রস্তুত। অনতিবিলম্বে আরোহণের জন্য অনুগ্রহপূর্বক ৬নং গেইটে চলে আসুন।” অতএব আমরা আরোহণ করতে ৬নং গেইটে গেলাম। বসার পর সত্যিকার অর্থে খুব প্রশান্তিবোধ করলাম। নতুন নকশার চামড়ার চেয়ারগুলো অপূর্ব, আরামদায়ক ও অভিজাত। আমি ১২D তে বসলাম, এটি পেছনের ক্যাবিনের দ্বিতীয় সারি ছিল। ১০০ আসনের মধ্যে আমরা সর্বসমেত ৫৪ জন যাত্রী ছিলাম। বিমানটি যখন রানওয়ের দিকে দ্রুত যেতে লাগলো, ক্যাপটেন আরোহীত সবাইকে স্বাগত জানালেন। সাবসনিক বিমানের সাধারণ ক্যাপটেনের ঘোষণার চেয়ে কনকর্ড বিমানের অভ্যন্তরীণ ঘোষণা বেশি বিস্তারিত ছিল। উড্ডয়নের জন্য আমরা রানওয়েতে ১৭মিনিট চললাম। উড্ডয়ন আবর্তন নিয়মতান্ত্রিক ছিল। ইঞ্জিনগুলো থেকে শ্রুত শব্দ একটু জোরালো ছিল তবে লক্ষণীয় বিষয় হলো তা সাবসনিক বিমানের চেয়ে খুব বেশি দ্রুতগামী ছিল। আকাশে উড়তে আমরা ১৪০০০ ফিট দীর্ঘ রানওয়েতে প্রায় ৩/৪ বার ঘুরলাম। দীর্ঘ দ্বীপ অতিক্রম করতে আমাদের কয়েক মিনিটের বেশি সময় লাগেনি। কিছুক্ষণের জন্য আমরা মেঘের মাঝে প্রবেশ করলাম এবং উড্ডয়নের পাঁচ মিনিটের মাথায় সব ভূদৃশ্য হারালাম। অতি শীঘ্রই ক্যাপটেন ঘোষণা করলেন যে, আমরা লন্ডন বিমানবন্দরে অবতরণ করতে যাচ্ছি। তারপর আমরা অবতরণ করতে প্রস্তুত হলাম। সুপারসনিক বিমানের মাধ্যমে আমি যে ভ্রমণ করলাম তা সত্যিকার অর্থে ছিল বিস্ময়কর ও আনন্দদায়ক। আমি কনকর্ডের মত সুপারসনিক বিমানে উড্ডয়নের কথা কখনো ভুলব না।

For geographical reasons, whenèver we go west time goes backward, that means we reach before our time. Suppose London is 5 hours behind Dhaka. So when in Dhaka it is 5 pm, in London its 12 pm. Concorde is a supersonic plane and flies faster than sound. So, if we fly westward in concorde, we will land several hours before we took off.
