A. Tarun has moved to a new city with his parents. He is going to a new school and his new teacher has given him the following form to fill out. His teacher wants to know more about him. ~ তরুণ তার বাবা-মায়ের সাথে একটি নতুন শহরে স্থানান্তরিত হয়েছে। সে একটি নতুন বিদ্যালয়ে যাচ্ছে এবং তার নতুন শিক্ষক তাকে নিচের ফর্মটি পূরণ করতে দিয়েছেন। তার শিক্ষক তার সম্পর্কে আরও জানতে চান।

My first day at the new school was interesting. I was going to school with my father in a rickshaw. We reached school after fifteen minutes. My father said good bye and left me at the school gate. I went in and found that everyone had gone to class. I walked into my classroom and found a seat. After sometime a teacher came and warmly greeted us. I found the students very friendly in my new class.
অনুবাদ: নতুন বিদ্যালয়ে আমার প্রথম দিনটি মজার ছিল। রিকশায় চড়ে আমি আমার বাবার সাথে বিদ্যালয়ে যাচ্ছিলাম। আমরা পনেরো মিনিট পরে বিদ্যালয়ে পৌছালাম। আমার বাবা আমাকে বিদায় জানালেন এবং বিদ্যালয়ের প্রবেশপথে রেখে গেলেন। আমি ভেতরে ঢুকলাম এবং দেখলাম সবাই শ্রেণিকক্ষে চলে গেছে। আমি আমার শ্রেণিকক্ষে প্রবেশ করলাম এবং একটি আসন খুঁজে নিলাম। কিছুক্ষণ পর একজন শিক্ষক আসলেন এবং আমাদের উষ্ণ অভিবাদন জানালেন। আমার নতুন শ্রেণির শিক্ষার্থীরা অত্যন্ত বন্ধুসুলভ ছিল।

My First Day at School: My first day at school was very exciting. I went to the school with my-mother in a rickshaw. It was 8:00 in the morning and the road was free. We reached the school in time. My mother took me to the Headmaster’s room. I felt both excited and frightened. I was thinking about my class and classmates. The Headmaster called my class-teacher. I bade my mother goodbye and went to the classroom with the teacher. 1 found my classmates very friendly. It is a memorable day in my life.

We can notice the following punctuation marks in the poem exclamation mark (!), the question mark (?) and the full stop (.).
(1) Exclamation mark (!) is used here to show extreme joy of the studentse.g. Oh, what fun!
(2) Question mark (?) is used to ask questionse.g. Who’ll laugh loudest?
(3) Full stop (.) is used to show the finishing of a sentence – e.g. Let us try.
আমরা কবিতাটিতে নিচের বিরাম চিহ্নগুলো দেখতে পাই-বিস্ময়সূচক চিহ্ন (!), প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন (?) এবং ফুল স্টপ (.)।
(১) এখানে বিস্ময়সূচক চিহ্ন (!) ছাত্রছাত্রীদের অত্যধিক আনন্দ বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে – যেমন: ওহ, কি মজা!
(২) প্রশ্ন জিজ্ঞাসা করতে প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন (?) ব্যবহৃত হয় – যেমন: সবচেয়ে জোরে হাসবে কে?
(৩) বাক্যের সমাপ্তি বোঝাতে ফুল স্টপ (.) ব্যবহৃত হয় – যেমন: চল চেষ্টা করি।
