The picture shows the inside of a lounge at the airport. Some passengers are seen waiting for their flight with their luggage and other things. The walls and doors of the room are made of glass. A plane is taking off in the background. (ছবিটি বিমানবন্দরে অবস্থিত একটি বিশ্রামকক্ষের ভিতরের অবস্থা দেখাচ্ছে। কতিপয় যাত্রীকে তাদের মালপত্র এবং অন্যান্য জিনিসসহ তাদের ফ্লাইটের জন্য অপেক্ষা করতে দেখা যাচ্ছে। এই কক্ষের দেয়াল ও দরজাগুলো কাচনির্মিত। পিছনে একটি বিমান উড্ডয়ন করছে।)

1. I see that some people are sitting in a room with their luggage and other things. I also see that an aeroplane is taking off in the background. (আমি দেখছি কিছু লোক তাদের লাগেজ এবং অন্যান্য জিনিসসহ একটি কক্ষে বসে আছে। আমি আরও দেখছি যে পিছনে একটি বিমান উড়ে যাচ্ছে।)
2. Yes, I can. It could be a lounge at an airport. (হ্যাঁ, পারি। এটা বিমানবন্দরে একটি বিশ্রাম কক্ষ হতে পারে।)
3. The people in the picture are the passengers of a plane. (ছবির লোকগুলো হলো বিমানের যাত্রী।)
4. The people sitting in the front seat could be a family. The man and the woman in the picture seem to be a spouse. The girls sitting between them could be their daughters. Zara lives with her parents in London. They have come to Bangladesh to visit Zara’s aunt and uncle. She is very close to her cousin Mita. Both the families have visited many interesting places together in Bangladesh. It was great fun. Then they decided that they would visit some places outside Bangladesh too. They decided to go to Thailand. But Mita’s parents were too busy with their work, so they could not go. However, Mita was going with them.
জারা লন্ডনে তার বাবা-মা’র সাথে বাস করে। তারা বাংলাদেশে এসেছে জারার চাচী ও চাচার সাথে দেখা করার জন্য। সে তার চাচাতো বোন মিতা’র খুবই ঘনিষ্ঠ। উভয় পরিবার’ই একত্রে বাংলাদেশের অনেক আকর্ষণীয় জায়গা দর্শন করেছে। এটি খুবই মজার ছিল। এরপর তারা স্থির করল যে তারা বাংলাদেশের বাইরেও কিছু জায়গা দর্শন করবে। তারা থাইল্যান্ডে যাওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নিল। কিন্তু মিতার পিতামাতা তাদের কাজ নিয়ে খুব ব্যস্ত ছিল, তাই তারা যেতে পারলো না। যাহোক, মিতা তাদের সঙ্গে গেল।
Mita, Zara and her parents are at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. They are waiting in the lounge. Mita is very excited. This is the first time that she is travelling on a plane. They are flying by Bangladesh Biman. Mita is hoping to have a great time in Thailand.
মিতা, জারা ও তার পরিবার হযরত শাহজালাল আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দরে। তারা লাউঞ্জে অপেক্ষা করছে। মিতা খুবই উৎফুল্ল। এটিই তার প্রথম প্লেনে ভ্রমণ। তারা বাংলাদেশ বিমানে উড়ে যাচ্ছে। মিতা আশা করছে থাইল্যান্ডে তার একটা চমৎকার সময় কাটবে।
As they wait, the two cousins start planning what they would do once they reach Bangkok. Mita’s uncle brings forms for all of them to fill in before going through the immigration. He gives one to Mita and says, “You have to give some information about yourself in the form. The immigration officer will check your passport and stamp it. And then you are ready to travel”.
তারা যখন অপেক্ষা করছিল তখনই দুই চাচাতো বোন পরিকল্পনা করছিল থাইল্যান্ডে পৌঁছে তারা কী করবে। ইমিগ্রেইশনের ভেতর দিয়ে যাওয়ার, আগেই পূরণ করার উদ্দেশ্যে মিতার চাচা সবার জন্য ফর্ম আনলেন। তিনি মিতাকে. একটি কর্ম দিলেন এবং বললেন, “তোমাকে তোমার সম্পর্কে কিছু তথ্য এই ফর্মে দিতে হবে। ইমিগ্রেইশন অফিসার তোমার পাসপোর্ট পরীক্ষা করবেন এবং এটাতে টিকেট লাগাবেন। তখন তুমি ভ্রমণের জন্য প্রস্তুত হবে।”

1. Why is Mita excited? (মিতা কেন উৎফুল্ল?)
Ans. Mita is excited because it is her first time to board a plane. (মিতা উৎফুল্ল কারণ এটিই তার প্রথম বিমানে আরোহণ।)
2. Why aren’t Mita’s parents going with her? (মিতা’র বাবা-মা কেন তার সাথে যাচ্ছে না?)
Ans. Mita’s parents are not going with her as they are too busy with their work. (মিতার বাবা-মা তার সাথে যাচ্ছে না কারণ তারা তাদের কাজ নিয়ে খুবই ব্যস্ত।)
3. What does an immigration officer do at the airport? (বিমান বন্দরে একজন ইমিগ্রেশন অফিসার কী করেন?)
Ans. An immigration officer checks the passport, visa and stamps in the passport. (একজন ইমিগ্রেশন অফিসার পাসপোর্ট, ভিসা পরীক্ষা করেন এবং পাসপোর্টে সিল লাগান।)
D. Write a short composition about your experience of travelling to another place. It could be going to your grandparents’/aunt’s/sister’s/brother’s house. A Journey by Bus
On 25th December 2012 we went to our uncle’s house at Joypurhat to attend the marriage ceremony of my eldest cousin. It was my first visit from Dhaka to the North Bengal. The journey was really very exciting.
On December 22, my father bought four tickets from the bus counter. On December 25, we got up very early in the morning. Just after taking our breakfast we went to Kalyanpur bus stand.
We were waiting for our bus sitting inside the bus counter.
We saw the arrival and departure of buses. People were selling newspaper, pop corn, toys, handkerchief etc. It was really a very busy and noisy place.
After some time, a man in the counter announced the arrival of our bus and told all passengers to get on. We got on the bus and found our seats according to the ticket. Then the driver started the bus.
We got two traffic jams in Gabtoli and Tangail. After crossing Tangail, we saw Bangabandhu Jamuna Bridge.
The scenery of the surrounding areas of the bridge was really excellent. We saw fishermen catching fish from their boat. We also saw beautiful trees planted by government authorities on both sides of the bridge.
After crossing the bridge we came to Sirajgonj. Our bus stopped beside an inn called ‘Food Village’. We took delicious snacks from that inn. After taking snacks we got on our bus again and the bus restarted its journey. Then we came to Bogra. We saw the famous Shrine of Hazrat Shah Sultan (R) at Mahasthangarh beside the main road.
Finally, we reached Joypurhat bus stand and saw my uncle and younger cousins to receive us.
This bus journey was one of the memorable journeys in my life which I will never forget.
