A. Look at the picture and answer these questions. ছবিটি লক্ষ করো এবং এসব প্রশ্নের উত্তর দাও।
1. What is it? – এটি কী?
Ans. This is a bookshop. (এটি একটি বইয়ের দোকান।)
2. Where can you find it? তুমি এটি কোথায় দেখতে পাও?
Ans. I can find it near academic centres, in towns or cities. (আমি এটি শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানের কাছাকাছি, শহর কিংবা নগরে দেখতে পাই।)
3. Is there a bookshop near your house or school or in your upazilla / town? Tell us about it. তোমার বাড়ি কিংবা বিদ্যালয়ের কাছে কিংবা তোমার উপজেলা/শহরে কোন বইয়ের দোকান আছে কি? আমাদেরকে এ সম্পর্কে বল।
Ans. Yes, there is a bookshop near our school. There is a large shelf in the shop. Books of different types are systematically placed on the shelf. There are two salesmen in the shop. They meet the needs of customers. (হ্যাঁ, আমাদের বিদ্যালয়ের কাছে একটি বইয়ের দোকান আছে। দোকানে একটি বড় তাক রয়েছে। বিভিন্ন ধরনের বই তাকে সুশৃঙ্খলভাবে রাখা আছে। দোকানে দুজন বিক্রেতা রয়েছে। তারা ক্রেতার প্রয়োজন মেটায়।)
4. Can you guess what the people in the picture are talking about? ছবির লোকজন কী সম্পর্কে কথা বলছে তা কি অনুমান করতে পার?
Ans. Yes, the people in the picture are talking about buying and selling books. (হ্যাঁ, ছবির লোকজন বই বেচাকেনা সম্পর্কে কথা বলছে।)
B. Listen, to the teacher/CD and answer the following questions. শিক্ষকের কথা/সিডি শোনো এবং নিচের প্রশ্নগুলোর উত্তর দাও।
1. What do you mean by ‘in stock’ and ‘out of stock’? ‘পাওয়া যাবে’ এবং ‘পাওয়া যাবে না’ বলতে কী বুঝ?
Ans: In stock means available for sale and out of stock means unavailable for sale. (ইন স্টক বলতে বিক্রির জন্য পর্যাপ্ত থাকা বোঝায়। আর আউট স্টক বলতে বিক্রির জন্য পর্যাপ্ত না থাকালে বোঝায়।
2. Who are talking in this conversation?এই কথোপকথনে কারা কথা বলছে?
Ans: A student and a bookseller are talking in this conversation. (কথোপকথনটিতে একজন শিক্ষার্থী ও একজন বই বিক্রেতা কথা বলছে।)
3. Where is the conversation taking place? কোথায় সংলাপটি হচ্ছে?
Ans: The conversation is taking place at a book shop. (একটি বইয়ের দোকানে কথোপকথনটি হচ্ছে।)
4. How many books does the student want? ছাত্রটির কতগুলো বই প্রয়োজন?
Ans: The student wants two books. (শিক্ষার্থীটি দুটি বই চাচ্ছে।)
5. What books does he want to buy? সে কী কী বই কিনতে চায়?
Ans: He wants to buy a dictionary and a story book. (সে একটি অভিধান এবং একটি গল্পের বই কিনতে চাইছে।)
6. How much do the books cost? বইগুলোর দাম কত?
Ans: The books cost Tk. 550. (বইগুলোর দাম ৫৫০ টাকা।)

C. Work in pairs. One of you is a customer and the other is a shop assistant. Make a dialogue saying the following sentences in the right order. Then write the dialogue in your notebook and act it out.
যুগ্মভাবে কাজ করো। তোমাদের একজন হলো ক্রেতা এবং আরেকজন হলো দোকান সহকারী। সঠিকক্রমে নিচের বাক্যগুলো বলে একটি সংলাপ তৈরি করো। অতঃপর তোমার নোট বইয়ে সংলাপটি লেখো এবং বাস্তবিক পরিস্থিতিতে তা সম্পাদন করো।

Shop assistant: Hello. Can I help you? (এই যে, আমি কি আপনাকে সাহায্য করতে পারি?)
Customer: Can I have pencil? (আমি কি পেন্সিল পেতে পারি?)
Shop assistant: Sure. Anything else? (অবশ্যই, আর কিছু?)
Customer: Yes. An eraser too. (হ্যাঁ। একটি ইরেজারও।)
Shop assistant: Here you are. (এই যে নিন।)
Customer: How much? ( কত?)
Shop assistant: Fifteen taka, please. (পনের টাকা।)
Customer: Here is the money. (এই যে টাকা।)
Shop assistant: Thanks. (ধন্যবাদ।)
Acting out the dialogue (বাস্তবিক পরিস্থিতিতে সংলাপটি সম্পাদনকরণ।)
