A. Look at the pictures and say which one is easier to move and why. (ছবিগুলো লক্ষ কর এবং কোন্টি নাড়াচাড়া করতে সহজতর এবং কেন তা বল।)

I see two suitcases in the pictures. The first one has no wheels, but the second one has wheels. So, the second one is easier to move. Wheels move it forward. Human beings have invented many important things so far. They have brought great civilization to the world through these inventions. Do you know which invention is the greatest? It is ‘the wheel’.
মানুষ এই পর্যন্ত অনেক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ জিনিস আবিষ্কার করেছে। এসব আবিষ্কারের মাধ্যমে তারা উন্নত সভ্যতার সূত্রপাত ঘটিয়েছে। তুমি কি জান কোন্ আবিষ্কারটি সবচেয়ে বড়? এটা হলো ‘চাকা’।
A wheel is a circular object. It can rotate around its axis and help easy movement of things across a surface.
হলো বৃত্তাকার বস্তু। এটি অক্ষের চারপাশে আবর্তিত হতে পারে এবং উপরিতল দিয়ে বস্তুর সহজ চলাচলে সাহায্য করতে পারে।
The wheels are, in fact, everywhere. They are on our cars, trains, planes, wagons and so on. Besides, they are on most factory and farm equipment. Fans, propellers, turbines are also other types of wheels.
চাকা বস্তুত সর্বক্ষেত্রে রয়েছে। এগুলো আমাদের গাড়ি, রেলগাড়ি, উড়োজাহাজ, ঘোড়া ও গরুর গাড়ি ইত্যাদিতে দেখা যায়। এছাড়া, অধিকাংশ কলকারখানা ও খামার সরঞ্জামাদিতে চাকা দেখা যায়। পাখা, প্রচালক, টার্বাইন (চাকা)-ও অন্যান্য ধরণের চাকা।
So the wheel is very important. We cannot imagine modern life without wheels. But do we know exactly who made the first wheel?
অতএব চাকা খুব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। চাকা ছাড়া আমরা আধুনিক জীবন কল্পনা করতে পারিনা। কিন্তু প্রথম চাকা কে তৈরি করেছিল তা কি আমরা সঠিকভাবে জানি?

Ans. Wheel is one of the round objects under a car, bicycle, bus etc that turns when it moves. (চাকা হলো গাড়ি, দ্বিচক্রযান, বাস ইত্যাদির নীচে থাকা গোলাকার বস্তু যা চলাচলের সময় চক্রাকারে ঘুরে।)
2. What can a wheel do? (চাকা কী করতে পারে?)
Ans. A wheel can rotate around its axis and help easy movement of things and beings across a surface. (চাকা অক্ষের চারপাশে চক্রাকারে আবর্তিত হতে পারে এবং উপরিতল দিয়ে জিনিসপত্র ও মানুষের সহজ চলাচলে সাহায্য করতে পারে।)
3. Where can you find wheels? (চাকা কোথায় দেখতে পাওয়া যায়?)
Ans. We can find wheels almost everywhere. They are found on our cars, trains, planes, wagons and so on. Besides, they are found on most factory and farm equipment. A Horrible Bus Journey
Always like to travel by bus. It refreshes my mind and mentality. But I have a bitter experience of a bus journey. Three months ago I was going to Noakhali from Dhaka by bus. Suddenly one of the wheels of our bus fell flat. Everyone was heavily jolted. Some of us was slightly hurt. Luckily I was unhurt. We got out of the bus. There was an extra wheel inside the bus. The driver began to fit it to the bus. In the meantime those who were hurt were given first aid from a nearby clinic. Then we got on the bus again. We reached our destination within two hours. The driver felt sorry for the inconvenience and sufferings caused to the passengers. We took it easy. Thus I gathered a horrible experience by bus journey.
একটি ভয়াবহ বাস ভ্রমণ
আমি সব সময় বাসযোগে ভ্রমণ করতে পছন্দ করি। এটা আমার মন মানসিকতাকে সতেজ করে। তবে আমার বাস ভ্রমণের তিক্ত অভিজ্ঞতা আছে। তিন মাস পূর্বে আমি বাসযোগে ঢাকা থেকে নোয়াখালী যাচ্ছিলাম। হঠাৎ আমাদের বাসের একটি চাকা সমান্তরালভাবে ছুটে পড়ে গেল। সবাই ভীষণভাবে ঝাঁকি খেল। কেউ কেউ একটু আঘাত পেল। সৌভাগ্যক্রমে আমি আঘাত পাইনি। বাসের ভেতরে একটি বাড়তি চাকা ছিল। চালক এটি লাগাতে শুরু করল। ইতোমধ্যে যারা আঘাত পেলেন তাদেরকে নিকটবর্তী চিকিৎসালয় থেকে প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসা দেওয়া হলো। অতঃপর আমরা পুনরায় বাসে উঠলাম। আমরা দু’ঘন্টার মধ্যে গন্তব্যস্থলে পৌঁছলাম। যাত্রীদের অসুবিধা ও দুর্ভোগের জন্য চালক দুঃখ বোধ করল। আমরা বিষয়টি সহজভাবে নিলাম। এভাবে বাস ভ্রমণের মাধ্যমে এক ভয়াবহ অভিজ্ঞতা সঞ্চয় করলাম।
